Located at the top of a hill, Ishigaki Yaima Village has a panoramic view of Ishigaki Island's scenic Nagura Bay. Set in lush nature, it is the southernmost theme park in Japan, which has restored rows of houses in the wonderful rustic Yaeyama style. Hear the sound of the sanshin coming from traditional red-roofed homes that have been designated as national tangible culture heritage. There are a plethora of activities you can try, such as dressing in traditional Ryukyuan costumes, painting your own shisa lion dog, and much more. Within the village there is a water buffalo lake, a crested serpent eagle, and squirrel monkey garden where you can feed the cute monkeys. There is a course to tour the Nagura Amparu, which is protected under the Ramsar Convention, and you can see rare animals here. After exploring the village partake in delicious local food at the Amparu Cafeteria and go shopping at the kiosk there.
